With something that has an air cooled flat six, hanging behind the rear axle. Maybe even with a turbo.
But I want it cheap...

“air cooled flat six, hanging behind the rear axle. Maybe even with a turbo.”
Cheap?
In all seriousness that would be awesome!

Hah, I didn’t think about a corvair! In my mind nothing exists besides 911 when you go throwing those words around.

I came here to suggest a corvair but it seems everyone has beaten me to it. So you should get corvair.

Well, yeah- until you get to the ‘cheap’ part. You can buy a nice 4-speed turbo convertible for around $15k. Good luck trying that with a Porsche.
The 2nd gen Corvairs can be modded to handle extremely well, too.

LOL I was actually referring to the Corvair all along anyways. Just joined the club/forum to start doing research on them.

Let us know if you start searching. I really think a corvair would be a fun vintage car and the prices are reasonable.

Oh I will! Your thought is exactly what I’m thinking. Cheap, vintage and fun.
Doing research this winter, and if things go well, I’ll look in the spring.
At some point, I’ll need to drive one- I haven’t yet. Convertible is a requirement, as is a 4 speed. K inda leaning toward a 2nd Gen 4 carb car from what I’ve read, though the turbo is intriguing.

Also, dash door handle and bondo has one - a green 2nd Gen 4 speed convertible. He hasn’t posted about it recently.

A C orvair is the only way the proposition makes sense. Otherwise, I say stand pat.

I’ve driven a 997S and loved it. Might be on more of a Corvair budget right now though.
